Parents Visit Again!

Just wanted to post some pics from my parents' visit last month. We had such a great time...and, as usual, packed about two weeks of activities into just a few days.

We kicked off their stay with a trip to Ocean Beach...

And then a quick spin through Golden Gate Park.

The first night they were here, we had an amazing dinner at Delfina Pizzeria in the Mission...and then had to stop by Bi-Rite Creamery for dessert. Note to future visitors, Bi-Rite ice cream (arguably the best in the city) is not to be missed and we are more than happy to take you there! All the flavors are good, but the salted caramel is legendary. YUM. Mom and Dad worked off all the delicious dinners by exploring Point Reyes and renting bikes and riding over the Golden Gate bridge while we were at work.

We also went hiking in Muir Woods, which was so much fun.

We just missed all the wildflowers, but managed to spot a few...

...and some wildlife as well!

One thing that still amazes me about San Francisco--places like this are less than 20 min. from our apartment in the city!

Over the weekend we took a little road trip down to the central coast to visit family near Pismo Beach.

I hadn't seen Aunt Mill and Uncle Bill since I was a little girl and it was so nice to get reacquainted. Although I hadn't seen her in such a long time, Aunt Mill is so special to me...she made my blue blankie...which I still sleep with when Mike's out of town! She gave us a Christmas quilt that she made...I can't wait to pull it out for the holidays.

We also had fun picking gigantic lemons in their backyard...

Of course, no trip to the central coast is complete without hitting a few vineyards...

...and playing with vineyard dogs.

All in all a great trip!

Trip to Chicago

I had to make a last minute trip to Chicago last week for a WNBA TV shoot.

Of course it is baseball season, so I had no other choice than to stay the weekend for a Cubs game and take in as much Wrigleyville as I could get my hands on.

We had a smooth shoot, saw all my good friends and the Cubs swept the Pirates - doesn't get much better than that...

Happy Birthday, Mike!

For those of you who don't know, Mike celebrated his 31st birthday this past Monday. The Saturday before, I decided to host a little party for him. Now, to be honest, I was a little nervous. We don't exactly know a lot of people here...and I was so worried that no one would show up and it would just make Mike wish that he was back in Chicago. However, by some chance miracle...or the fact that we have a great roof deck and it was a beautiful day...nearly everyone showed up and we had such a lovely time. At one point, I think that 90% of the people we know in SF were standing on our roof...really a pretty nice feeling.

Of course, as usual, we had lots of treats...

Our neighbors wanted to share a romantic dinner on the roof, so we moved the party downstairs...

Although Mike had a great time, even an extra cupcake can't make him feel better about the Cubs' loss.

The Queen Anne

As an anniversary present, my parents surprised us with a night at The Queen Anne Hotel in Pacific Heights last Saturday night. The hotel is a bed and breakfast in a historic building built in 1890.

We went to dinner at one of our favorite places in the neighborhood that night, and went exploring through a couple of the area parks and Japantown the next morning.

All in all, it was a great 'getaway'. Thanks again Mom and Dad.
