Trip to Chicago

I had to make a last minute trip to Chicago last week for a WNBA TV shoot.

Of course it is baseball season, so I had no other choice than to stay the weekend for a Cubs game and take in as much Wrigleyville as I could get my hands on.

We had a smooth shoot, saw all my good friends and the Cubs swept the Pirates - doesn't get much better than that...

Happy Birthday, Mike!

For those of you who don't know, Mike celebrated his 31st birthday this past Monday. The Saturday before, I decided to host a little party for him. Now, to be honest, I was a little nervous. We don't exactly know a lot of people here...and I was so worried that no one would show up and it would just make Mike wish that he was back in Chicago. However, by some chance miracle...or the fact that we have a great roof deck and it was a beautiful day...nearly everyone showed up and we had such a lovely time. At one point, I think that 90% of the people we know in SF were standing on our roof...really a pretty nice feeling.

Of course, as usual, we had lots of treats...

Our neighbors wanted to share a romantic dinner on the roof, so we moved the party downstairs...

Although Mike had a great time, even an extra cupcake can't make him feel better about the Cubs' loss.

The Queen Anne

As an anniversary present, my parents surprised us with a night at The Queen Anne Hotel in Pacific Heights last Saturday night. The hotel is a bed and breakfast in a historic building built in 1890.

We went to dinner at one of our favorite places in the neighborhood that night, and went exploring through a couple of the area parks and Japantown the next morning.

All in all, it was a great 'getaway'. Thanks again Mom and Dad.
