The Davidsons take San Francisco!

Thought we'd share a few pics from the Davidsons' visit over MLK weekend. Somehow, in the middle of the January rainy season they scored three beautiful days out of four--not bad!

Rooftop fun after a long flight!

We headed down the street to check out the Palace of Fine Arts...

...then over the bridge to take pictures before continuing up to Sonoma to visit a few wineries.

A vineyard at Kunde estate...

...sharing a bottle at Hop Kiln

We visited a couple others and also headed into Healdsburg to check out the square.

Mike took Roger and Nancy to Alcatraz the next day (I went with my parents back in November).

Umm...who let this guy out?

Dinner at home

It was such a fun weekend...we love visitors! (hint, hint)

home sweet (tiny) home

So you may have heard that San Francisco can be a bit of a pricey place to call home... You heard correctly.

Some of you will remember the great the apartment we had in Chicago after the wedding. Well, apparently we were fortunate to be able to cut the size of our apartment in half and double the rent. Yeah California!

Here's our place when we first got to town, before our furniture made it. Nothing says 'home' like an air mattress and a lawn chair.

And here's Kate putting the kitchen together, with Manny providing zero help.

Here's our living room today.

And as you can see, Manny's made himself right at home...

our 'hood

We live in the Marina neighborhood of San Francisco, which is right on the Presidio and very close to the Golden Gate Bridge.

The views of the north bay are amazing and the neighborhood is nice. What we didn't know before we got here was that this area was completely wiped out by the last big San Francisco earthquake in 1989.

Needless to say, we didn't do a whole lot of research on our whirlwind 36-hour house hunting trip...

We live on the 3rd floor of the canary yellow building up on the left. Corner of Beach and Divisadero.

View of the Golden Gate Bridge from our rooftop.

And you can see Alcatraz from there too...

Here we are down at the Marina - just two blocks from our place. I think we might need a boat.

Let's get it started...

So Kate and I are starting a blog.

And no, it is not because we are having a baby.

We just decided we wanted to capture our San Francisco experience and share it with everyone, so here we go...

We moved out here from Chicago almost 5 months ago and are starting to feel like we actually live here.  The problem (if you can call it that) with a city full of cool things to do and places to go, is that you always kinda feel like you are just on vacation.

So we are going to do our best to capture all these things and share them with you...
